There are 2 TT races this year in the AMA Pro Grand National Flat Track race series. The first was held at Castle Rock, WA on August 2, and the second was the Peoria TT held yesterday at the Peoria Motorcycle Club in Peoria, IL.

For those of you who are not familiar with a TT race… the TT stands for “Tourist Trophy” a term originated from the world famous, historic Isle of Man TT races, when street-legal motorcycles were known as touring motorcycles so that a “tourist trophy” signified a class for street-legal motorcycles. The AMA version of a TT is a steeplechase consisting of an irregularly shaped dirt course which usually features one right hand turn and one jump. The event favors lighter single cylinder motorcycles in the 250cc and 450cc classes in both Pro and Expert classes.

The Peoria TT is the most well-known of the AMA Pro Flat Track GNC series and is held every year at the beautiful Peoria Motorcycle Club Race Park located in 605 South Cameron Lane, Bartonville, IL (near Peoria).

Our own Mikey Martin #91 participated in the racing on a Honda since twins are no longer raced in AMA Pro TT races.

Of no surprise to anyone, the winner of the day was Henry Wiles #17. Henry favors this style of riding and this was his 10th win at the Peoria TT.
