As many of you know, we did not field an American Flat Track team in 2017, while we were developing a new BP Supertracker based on the new generation of Triumph liquid-cooled twin engines (900cc and 1200cc models). The many months of work are nearing completion as we test our 2018 Supertracker this week at a racetrack in Georgia. The preliminary testing has been very encouraging and we anticipate being able to offer a very competitive platform in 2018 AFT GNC racing!

An early dyno run is very impressive.

Our 2018 BP Supertracker uses twin Mikuni carburetors, similar to our Mikuni Carb Kit.

The 2018 BP Supertracker also features a Beringer rear rotor and 4-piston disc brake.

American Flat Track Racing

Bonneville Performance is busy preparing for the upcoming 2017 American Flat Track racing season. In the works is a new BP Supertracker design based on the new Triumph Bonneville 900cc liquid-cooled twin engines. The new liquid-cooled race engine will be a 995cc with a 97.6mm bore x 66.5mm stroke. It will also feature our other proprietary high-performance technologies to the crank, pistons, head, cam as well as the intake and exhaust systems.

The 2017 AFT Race Team

Our GNC Pro riders for 2017 have not yet been officially announced, but we are planning to field two riders for the season. Watch for that news announcement very soon!

Custom Street Tracker 995

Also in the works is a kick-ass Bonneville Performance Street Tracker 995 with a 13.5 compression engine – identical to the air-cooled race engines we ran in 2014 – 2016 including the cams and exhaust system. It features all of our latest race-tested and proven high-performance modifications which consistently produces 104 to 106 rwhp and 72 ft lbs torque, making this the Ultimate Street-Legal Bonneville! We expect to have it completed for Daytona Bike Week (March 10-19) and posted here online for sale shortly after that!

Dirt Track Resurgence? https://bonnevilleperformance.com/dirt-track-resurgence/ https://bonnevilleperformance.com/dirt-track-resurgence/#respond Fri, 08 Jul 2016 15:50:17 +0000 https://bonnevilleperformance.com/?p=3026 There is an encouraging article posted on Cycle World yesterday, written by Kevin Cameron. In it, he talks about how flat dirt track motorcycle racing may be poised for growth and attention because it is the last remaining 2 wheeled sport that is still accessible.

Dirt Track Arises? – Hope for the last two-wheeled sport that is widely accessible – By Kevin Cameron

“People in dirt track love the life. Will the coming of increased factory money and jobs change it for the better or for worse? What might be the effect of television? No one knows, but we all may be about to find out.”

We certainly hope that increased interest in our sport will be for the better: bigger crowds, more online viewers, more sponsors, better TV and online coverage, more jobs, more sales, etc. We also hope that the sport can retain its accessibility and allow the little guy to compete and work his way up the ranks on sheer talent, persistence and ingenuity.

After showing our race credentials and being directed to our spot in the paddock, we set up our pit area. The weather was warm with temperatures expected in the high 80’s, and no rain in the forecast. We were again honored by the assistance of VETMotorsports, who supplied a pit crew member to us for the day. It was great to meet and work with Darrell!

At Lima it is necessary to cover and protect anything that could be damaged by flying bits of pea gravel, which is what this type of “cushioned track” is made of.

We saw a lot of this truck throughput the day!

We saw a lot of this truck throughput the day!

The greatest negative factor for the day was a small magnet in the ignition coming out of its position hole during a timed practice run (see photo), causing immediate loss of power (no magnet, no ignition) and ending Jake’s chances at posting a faster lap time. Even though eventually fixed, it caused ripple effects for the rest of the day. By not gaining a faster lap time, his positions in the following heat races were not favorable, which lead to him needing to compete in a more competitive semi-final, which knocked us out of the main event race… all from one tiny magnet! Flat Track racing at this Pro level is not for the faint of heart!

This little ignition magnet was the cause of our mechanical issues for the day!
